    Matthew is a consultant gastroenterologist and Director of Endoscopy at University College London Hospital NHS Trust. He is also an honorary senior lecturer at UCL. In addition to his expertise in the field of general gastroenterology, Matthew’s special interests include gastrointestinal cancers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s oesophagus and irritable bowel syndrome. Procedures¬†he undertakes include colonoscopy, gastroscopy, therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), laser therapy and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR/ESD). Matthew has undertaken fellowships in Australia (endoscopic ultrasound and cancer staging) and Tokyo (management of early gastrointestinal cancers including ESD) to further his expertise. His research interests include the early detection of GI cancers, markers of risk, bowel cancer screening, and obesity in Barrett’s oesophagus.
